Entrepreneur in Residence/Product Lead
Job Description:
Our client is a leading developer tooling company known for building products used by software engineers around the world. The company has a strong engineering culture and a long track record of creating tools that help developers work more efficiently, automate repetitive tasks, and build better software.
Within the company, a small innovation team is developing a new open-source product focused on AI-spec-driven development. The product introduces a declarative approach that formally connects system requirements, architecture, and code, giving AI agents a structured specification to work against.
The product is currently in alpha and entering its next stage: initial market penetration and real-world adoption. The team is focused on bringing it into real development environments, validating the strongest use cases, and evolving it into a robust, production-ready system.
To help lead this next stage, our client is looking for an Entrepreneur in Residence / Product Lead to join the team. This is an early-stage opportunity with significant influence over the product, market direction, and overall strategy.
About the role
We are looking for an Entrepreneur in Residence / Product Lead to work alongside the technical founder and own the product strategy.
This is not a traditional product management role. Your focus will be on deeply understanding real developer workflows: where specifications, architecture, and code break down, what causes friction, and which problems are actually worth solving.
You will translate these insights into concrete product requirements, priorities, and strategic decisions, while helping the team identify where the product can create the most value.
In this role, you will:
- Own the product strategy: Define the direction, validate key hypotheses, and decide what to build first.
- Run continuous discovery: Talk to developers and potential customers to understand real workflows, pain points, and opportunities.
- Define the initial scope: Identify the ICP, core use cases, and priorities for zero-to-one product development.
- Shape GTM: Help define positioning, messaging, launch strategy, and go-to-market.
- Track the ecosystem: Stay close to competitors, adjacent tools, AI developments, and broader market trends.
- Work closely with engineering: Keep a small technical team focused, aligned, and moving quickly in a highly ambiguous environment.
We will be happy to have you on the team if you have:
- 8+ years of product management experience with end-to-end ownership of strategy, discovery, and delivery.
- Startup experience, ideally within a small team, with a strong track record of building and shipping zero-to-one products.
- Experience working with developer tools or AI products.
- High autonomy, speed, and comfort making decisions with limited information.
- Strong technical fluency and the ability to work closely with engineers; coding experience is a plus.
- Founder, co-founder, C-level, Entrepreneur in Residence, or similar experience is a strong advantage.
- Experience with GTM, marketing, product launches, developer advocacy, or public speaking is also a plus.
Why join?
- Foundational work: Help define a new direction in developer tooling at the intersection of programming languages and AI.
- Deep technical problems: Work on formal specifications, developer tooling, and AI agents rather than surface-level product features.
- Real ownership: Own the product's strategy and direction in a role that is much closer to a founder than a traditional Product Manager.
- Best of both worlds: Work with the autonomy and pace of an early-stage startup while benefiting from the resources, engineering expertise, and long-term mindset of an established developer tooling company.
